I recently replaced my old 7-quart Smart-Pot slow cooker with the Crock-Pot SCCPVR700SA model. My initial experience was disappointing. During its first use for making chili, the cooker boiled the contents within an hour on the regular setting. Even after turning it down to warm, it continued boiling, necessitating constant supervision.
As a self-proclaimed crockpot enthusiast, I prefer simple yet programmable models. This Crock-Pot, with its perfect size, fits the bill for various recipes. However, it’s essential to remember not to snap down the carrying clips during cooking. A locking lid would have been a great addition for security.
This model features limited temperature/time selections but still represents a good value for a basic slow cooker. Its push buttons, replacing the old turning knob, enhance ease of use and cleanup.
However, I faced a significant issue with the warm setting, where it boiled the food instead of simmering. Unfortunately, I couldn’t return it as the 30-day return period had elapsed. The outer metal shell also gets extremely hot, posing a burn risk.
