Ingredients
- Buns
- Eggs
- Herbs
- Cream
- Salt
- Pepper
- Parmesan cheese
- Butter
- Cheese (optional)
- Bacon grease (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut out a hole in the top of each bun large enough to fit a cracked egg. Be sure to leave the crust of bun intact so the white doesn’t leak out.
- Crack an egg into each roll then top with some herbs and a bit of cream. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with Parmesan.
- Bake until eggs are set and bread is toasted, 20 to 25 minutes.
- After eggs have cooked for 20 minutes, place bread tops on baking sheet and bake until golden brown.
- Let sit 5 minutes before serving.
Alternative Cooking Methods:
- On a flat top grill: Preheat to medium heat (400 degrees F/205 degrees C). Place the bread with the hole on the grill, add butter to the hole, and crack an egg into it. Cook for about 3 minutes until the egg is firm on the bottom.
- On a skillet: Heat a skillet over medium-low heat, melt butter, place the bread slice with the hole in it on the skillet, and crack an egg into the hole. Cook until the egg is firm.
