This particular model from Nesco (ad) checked almost all the boxes for me, except for the lack of a timer. In my opinion, timers are a vital feature that all crockpots should have. The oval shape is particularly beneficial as it allows for versatile cooking – vegetables can be placed at the bottom with chicken leg quarters or a Cornish hen on top. The design also conveniently fits items that might not sit well in round pots. For instance, it can accommodate two stuffed bell peppers perfectly.
There are specialized cookbooks available that cater to one or two people, tailored for crockpots. This product might run slightly hotter than some might expect, as it can cook a frozen roast (approximately 1.5 pounds) in less than three hours on the highest setting. For those concerned about cleanup, smaller Reynolds crockpot bags fit this model seamlessly, making the process hassle-free. Potential buyers should note its compact size – it’s ideal for those with limited counter space or those cooking for one or two people. One missing feature is a lock-down option, but it wasn’t essential for my needs. I did, however, miss the small vent hole present in the lid of my previous crockpot. Overall, it’s a fantastic slow cooker for individuals or couples. It cooks meat evenly and works as expected. Its size makes it perfect for camping trips and preparing homemade dips.
